If you only want one Sazabi, build the standard RG MSN-04 first. It's the more complete standalone kit at a lower price, and it earns the top recommendation for how well it balances scale, articulation, and cost against everything else in the RG line. The MSN-04FF is the one to add second, once you already know the base kit and want the funnel spectacle on top of it. Think of the FF version as a display centerpiece for an existing collection rather than a first purchase, since the core suit underneath is identical to the standard release.

Both kits share the same psycho-frame inner structure and the same 1/144 Sazabi silhouette, which is already a big kit by RG standards. The standard MSN-04 carries the funnel container on the backpack as most builders picture the Sazabi, and the pose range is excellent for a suit this size. The beam tomahawk and shield give you plenty to work with on the shelf, and the price sits where you'd expect for a flagship RG.

The FF variant takes that same frame and swaps in the Double Horn Funnel, a huge six-funnel array that replaces the standard Sazabi's normal funnel pack. It's an eye-catching centerpiece, and Bandai engineered new parts specifically so the model can still stand under that extra weight, which is no small feat of frame design. What you don't get with the FF is a different core build. The suit underneath the funnel unit is the same Sazabi as the standard release, so you're paying the premium for the funnel gimmick, not for a reworked mobile suit.

Neither kit fights you on the bench. Both use the same well-proven RG runner logic, so if you've built one you already know how the other goes together. Where they diverge is at the finish line. The standard MSN-04 stands and poses cleanly on its own, no extra support needed, and reads as a tight, purposeful package on a shelf next to other RGs.

The MSN-04FF asks more of the display. The Double Horn Funnel dominates the silhouette once it's mounted, so this is a build where the backpack becomes the main event rather than a complement to the suit. It looks spectacular in its own display spot, but it also eats more shelf width and draws attention away from the base suit's own detailing. Worth it if you want a Sazabi that photographs as a spectacle piece, less essential if you want a Sazabi that reads as Char's mobile suit first.

The standard RG MSN-04 has been in circulation longer and sits at the more accessible end of RG flagship pricing, and it restocks more predictably. The MSN-04FF, as a Gundam Side-F exclusive release, runs at a premium over the standard kit and can be harder to find in stock, so if you see it available and you already want the funnel variant, it's usually worth grabbing rather than waiting. Neither kit is a bargain-bin pickup, both are priced like the flagship RGs they are, but the FF's exclusivity tax is real and worth factoring in before you chase it as a first Sazabi.
