The verdict

I went into this expecting a forgettable mob kit and came out genuinely impressed by how much motion Bandai packed into a suit whose entire narrative job is to get wiped out by a Gundam.

The articulation and the clean color separation are the real story here, not the lore. It will not be anyone's centerpiece kit, but as a piece of engineering for the price of a background unit, it overdelivers.

Best for: HG collectors who want a well engineered grunt suit for dioramas or Gundam vs. mob display setups

The full review

What it is

The Heingra is the mass produced escort suit that Grassley built to protect the Beguir-Beu during the Witch from Mercury prologue, and this kit treats that mob role seriously instead of phoning it in. The head and backpack are newly sculpted for this release, the shield has a movable grip instead of being a dead weight prop, and the whole thing snaps together without glue. I went in expecting a filler kit and came out surprised by how confidently it poses. The proportions read exactly like the suit on screen, blocky and utilitarian, and the parts fit with none of the looseness you sometimes get on lower tier HG releases.

The catch

This is a Premium Bandai exclusive, which means you are paying import markup and shipping instead of picking it up at a hobby shop, and that changes the value math compared to a retail HG. It is a mob suit through and through, so the accessory loadout is narrow: one beam rifle, two backpack mounted sabers, and the shield with its four built in beam guns, and that is the whole kit. If you are chasing maximum part count or a huge weapon spread for the price, this will feel thin next to a retail-line HG at the same rough cost.

Who it's for

Buy this if you want a genuinely well articulated grunt suit to put a Gundam vs. mob scene together, or if the Witch from Mercury prologue events matter to you and you want the escort unit that got run over by the Lfrith Pre-Production Model on your shelf. Skip it if you only buy hero units or if the P-Bandai price and shipping wait turn you off, because the accessory count will not change your mind once it is in hand. For what it is, a background suit built with real care, I think it earns its spot in a mob-suit lineup.

The build story

What the build is actually like, and the engineering worth knowing about.

Assembly is snap-fit with no glue needed, and gate placement is considerate enough that cleanup stays quick even on the newly sculpted head and backpack pieces. Nothing here fights you, the shield's separate grip piece is the only part that takes a second look to seat correctly.

The standout is how much pose range Bandai built into a suit meant to die on screen. The shield mounts four rapid fire beam guns molded straight into the piece, the backpack carries both beam sabers so the hands stay free for the rifle, and the joints hold action poses without drooping, which is not something every grunt-tier HG can claim.

Lore & trivia

  • 01The Heingra is a Grassley-built mass production mobile suit deployed by the Dominicus team as an escort for the Beguir-Beu in the Witch from Mercury PROLOGUE.
  • 02In its on-screen appearances the Heingra units were overwhelmed after engaging the Gundam Lfrith Pre-Production Model and its GUND-BIT swarm weapons.
  • 03The HG kit was released as a Premium Bandai exclusive in mid 2024, alongside a companion release of the HG Lfrith Pre-Production Model it loses to in the story.
