The verdict

This P-Bandai twin pack takes a kit I already like, the standard HG Graze, and doubles it into a mini army with new tooling that actually earns its keep.

The Schild's oversized shield and spear-tipped halberd are the real draw, and the extra battle axe, rifle, and bazooka loadout for the second Graze means you are not just getting two identical bodies in a different color. It is not a technical showcase, the Graze frame was never that, but as a value-and-presence package for Iron-Blooded Orphans fans it delivers.

Best for: IBO collectors who want the Arianrhod Fleet represented on the shelf and don't mind a simpler build for the payoff of two suits and a pile of weapons

The full review

What it is

This is a P-Bandai exclusive built entirely on the familiar HGIBO Graze frame, molded here in the Arianrhod Fleet's dark green rather than the usual Gjallarhorn tan. You get a full second Graze plus a Graze Schild variant with new tooling for its chin-guarded head, an enlarged shield with a vision slit, and a halberd that towers over the suit itself, echoing the Graze's signature battle axe silhouette but stretched into a spear. Building it felt like assembling a kit I already knew, which made it relaxing rather than demanding, and then getting rewarded at the end with a genuinely imposing new weapon in hand.

The catch

The Graze frame underneath both suits is the same simple, slightly plasticky frame Bandai has used across the whole Graze line, so nothing here pushes engineering forward, and a few Graze reviews note the joints feel less solid than other IBO frames once you start posing hard. This is also a P-Bandai exclusive, meaning it was never in general retail and now shows up secondhand or through resellers at a premium over its original roughly 3,240 yen price. And because it is a recolor plus new accessories rather than an all-new mold, the core Graze body will feel very familiar if you already own one or two.

Who it's for

Grab this if you are building out the Arianrhod Fleet side of the IBO conflict and want the visual variety of a shield-and-halberd Schild standing next to a rifle-and-bazooka Graze, all in matching fleet green. It is also a reasonable way to bulk up a Graze squad since you get two suits and three extra weapons in one box. Skip it if you already own several Gjallarhorn-tan Grazes and are hoping for new engineering underneath, or if you are not committed to hunting down a P-Bandai exclusive after the fact.

The build story

What the build is actually like, and the engineering worth knowing about.

If you have built any HGIBO Graze before, this goes together the same way: straightforward gate placement, molded color doing most of the work with only light stickers for accents, and a build that rewards familiarity rather than testing your patience. The Schild's new head and shield pieces snap into the existing frame without extra fuss, so the added parts do not complicate what is otherwise a quick, satisfying weekend build.

The standout here is the loadout. The Schild's halberd is genuinely oversized, taller than the suit itself, and paired with the enlarged vision-slit shield it gives this recolor real presence next to a stock Graze. The second Graze in the set comes with a battle axe, rifle, and bazooka, so between the two suits you have enough weapon variety to pose a small skirmish rather than one static figure. Articulation matches the standard Graze, decent hip and shoulder range, nothing acrobatic, which is the honest ceiling for this frame.

Lore & trivia

  • 01Schild is German for shield, a nod to the oversized defensive gear this Graze variant carries into battle.
  • 02The Graze Schild's halberd design echoes the standard Graze's own 9.8m battle axe, stretched into a longer spear-tipped weapon.
  • 03The set was a P-Bandai Hobby Online Shop exclusive released in April 2018 for 3,240 yen, molded in the Arianrhod Fleet's distinct dark green rather than Gjallarhorn's usual tan.
  • 04In the anime, Graze Schild units served as the Arianrhod Fleet's vanguard during the siege of Tekkadan's headquarters on Mars.
