EB-08 Julieta's Reginlaze

A cheap, feminine-proportioned Graze cousin that trades a little sturdiness for a lot of personality.

The verdict

This is a solid budget HG that leans hard on its silhouette rather than its engineering.

Julieta's Reginlaze shares almost its entire frame with the Graze line, so if you have built one of those before you already know the drill here, just with a slimmer waist and a bigger collar. It looks the part of a veteran Gjallarhorn pilot's personal machine straight off the runners, but a couple of loose-fitting joints keep it from punching above its price band.

Best for: IBO fans who want Julieta's exact loadout on a shelf without spending MG money

The full review

What it is

I went into this one expecting a reskinned Graze and that is basically what I got, just a good one. The proportions are noticeably more feminine than the standard Graze, narrower through the waist and hips, and it actually reads as Julieta's personal unit rather than a generic grunt suit. The head sculpt with that oversized collar piece is the star of the kit for me, it gives the whole thing an aristocratic, cold-blooded look that matches her role in season 2. Snapping the twin pile tonfas into her hands for the first time and seeing them sit right at that backhand angle from the show was a genuinely satisfying moment.

The catch

The wrists and the sideskirt armor do not clip in with much confidence, and mine popped off more than once mid-pose, which gets old fast when you are trying to nail a dynamic stance. Bandai also shifted the color separation away from screen accuracy, the grey molded plastic runs lighter than the anime's steel tone and the green is more saturated than the muted olive Julieta's unit actually wears, so if you care about accuracy you are looking at paint or a panel line wash at minimum. Shoulder movement is also more restricted than the base Graze because of that bigger collar and shoulder pad, so the dramatic overhead raise the Graze frame is capable of gets clipped down to roughly a right angle.

Who it's for

If you are building a Gjallarhorn side of the IBO cast, or you just want Julieta on the shelf without hunting down a rarer or pricier release, this earns its spot easily at HG pricing. It is not a kit I would point a first-time builder toward for a flawless out-of-box experience, the loose skirt armor needs a little patience or a dab of glue if it bothers you enough. But as a quick, cheap build that captures a specific character rather than a generic mass-production suit, it delivers exactly what it promises and nothing gets in the way of a fun afternoon at the workbench.

The build story

What the build is actually like, and the engineering worth knowing about.

Gate placement follows the familiar Graze-family runners, so cleanup is quick and there is nothing unusual to watch for. The frame underneath is essentially a direct carryover from the Graze, same joint types and same general assembly order, which makes this a fast build if you have any HGIBO experience already. The sticker sheet handles most of the fine color detailing since this is a snap kit at HG price, so budget a little extra time if you want to swap any of those for paint.

The head unit on its ball joint gives decent range on its own, but the oversized collar piece boxes in how far you can tilt or turn it before parts collide. Included gear covers the twin pile tonfas, the anti-mobile-suit rifle, and a gauntlet, which is a fair loadout for the price band and lets you recreate her actual fighting stance from the show without any aftermarket parts.

Lore & trivia

  • 01Julieta's Reginlaze carries the alternate designation EB-08s, the same base number used for the Gjallarhorn commander-spec Reginlaze that it was customized from.
  • 02The suit's twin pile weapon combines a piercing pike tip, a small integrated shield, and a wired anchor housed in the handle, letting Julieta fight at both melee and mid range with the same tool.
  • 03Its rifle uses a larger caliber round than the standard Graze's 120mm sidearm, reflecting the Reginlaze line's higher output frame.
  • 04The kit released in October 2016 as part of Bandai's HGIBO line supporting Iron-Blooded Orphans season 2, where Julieta Juris served as one of the Gjallarhorn Arianrhod Fleet's key antagonist pilots.
