The verdict

This is the rare multi-kit box where I didn't feel shortchanged by any single suit in it.

You get Reginlaze Julia in her final-battle loadout plus two Dainsleif-armed Grazes and Iok's own Graze, all built on frame engineering Bandai had already proven out with the standard HGIBO Graze line. The value math is the whole pitch here, four posable, screen-accurate suits from one of the show's best fight sequences, and I came away thinking Bandai actually respected what this scene meant to fans instead of just cashing in on it.

Best for: IBO completionists and diorama builders who want the full Mars final-battle lineup without buying and converting four separate kits

The full review

What it is

This is a P-Bandai exclusive bundling four mobile suits from Iron-Blooded Orphans' final battle on Mars into one box: Reginlaze Julia in her stripped-down space-combat configuration, two Grazes carrying the dreaded Dainsleif rifle, and Iok Kujan's personal Graze. Building all four back to back turned into a genuinely fun afternoon rather than a chore, because the Graze frame Bandai reused here is one of the more satisfying HG engineering jobs from the IBO line, snug joints, believable proportions, and gate placement that doesn't punish you on the visible panel lines. Reginlaze Julia is the standout for me, her large sword and anchor-firing shield give her a completely different silhouette from the rest of the fleet.

The catch

The honest catch is availability and price. This was a Bandai Hobby Online Shop exclusive from February 2018 at 6,480 yen, and it has been out of production long enough that secondary market listings now run well past $200, sometimes over $260. That is a rough multiple on an HG set. Reginlaze Julia also ships without her signature dual Julian Swords in whip mode, since this version reflects her final-battle refit with a single large blade and shield, so if you wanted the sword-whip gimmick you will be disappointed. The Graze frame is also showing its 2018 age next to newer HG tooling, joints are solid but not as deep-range as current-gen kits.

Who it's for

If you followed Iron-Blooded Orphans through to the end and want that final Mars battle sitting on a shelf as a complete scene, this set earns its keep, four suits, four distinct silhouettes, one coherent moment from the show. If you are chasing it purely for Reginlaze Julia's whip-sword gimmick, buy the standalone Reginlaze Julia kit instead and skip this. And if the current resale pricing makes you wince, it should, this is a patience purchase, not an impulse one. Wait for a restock or reissue rather than paying scalper rates.

The build story

What the build is actually like, and the engineering worth knowing about.

Assembly across all four suits goes fast because the Graze frame is a known quantity, gates sit on non-visible surfaces for the most part, cleanup is quick, and the double-jointed knees snap together without the looseness some HG lines are known for. The Dainsleif-armed Grazes build almost identically to each other, so the second one goes together in half the time once you have done the first, and the swap between Dainsleif's closed and attack-ready states is a satisfying little gimmick rather than a gluing headache.

Reginlaze Julia is where the set earns its price tag for me. Her large sword and shield use new molding with metallic accents on the blade, and the shield's anchor-firing feature is a legitimately clever bit of engineering for an HG-tier accessory. Ankle tilt and knee articulation across the set are generous enough to get dynamic combat poses out of all four suits standing together, which is really the point of buying this as a set instead of piecemeal.

Lore & trivia

  • 01Reginlaze Julia beheaded Gundam Barbatos Lupus Rex in the final battle on Mars after her pilot Julieta Juris fought Mikazuki Augus to the story's end.
  • 02This set reproduces the suits in their stripped-back final-battle loadouts, which is why Reginlaze Julia carries a large sword and shield instead of her earlier dual Julian Swords.
  • 03Dainsleif, the Ahab Reactor-detonating weapon two of these Grazes carry, was the same forbidden armament Gjallarhorn had used earlier in the series to wipe out its own fleet.
  • 04The set originally retailed for 6,480 yen through Bandai's Premium (P-Bandai) online shop in February 2018 and has never had a wide general retail release.
