I like this set a lot more than its box art suggests I should.
It is not a mobile suit, it is eleven runners of gold-trimmed weapons and armor plates built to bolt onto two kits you already need to own, and once you see what it actually opens up (the 00 Sky HWS backpack and the AGE II Magnum's SV Phoenix Mode parts) it stops feeling like a side purchase and starts feeling like the second half of two kits Bandai split in two. Judged only as an accessory pack, it delivers exactly what it promises with clean, glue-free assembly.
Best for: Build Divers collectors who already own HG Gundam 00 Sky and HG Gundam AGE II Magnum and want their final-form loadouts
What it is
This is a Build Custom (HGBC) expansion set from the Gundam Build Divers line, tied to the show's Higher Than Sky Phase arc where Riku's 00 Sky straps on a heavy weapons system and AGE II Magnum shifts into its golden SV Phoenix form. Inside are nose parts, a full HWS backpack and weapon loadout, the SV armor and blade components, two backpack joint pieces, and a sticker sheet, all snapping together with zero glue needed. Building it feels less like assembling a kit and more like unwrapping the ending of a story you already watched, and clicking that five-pronged golden blade together for the first time is a genuinely satisfying payoff.
The catch
You need to already own both HG Gundam 00 Sky and HG Gundam AGE II Magnum for this to do anything, it does not stand on its own and Bandai does not pretend otherwise. Color separation leans on the sticker sheet for some of the gold and white accenting rather than molded plastic, so careful application matters if you want the finished weapons to read cleanly on a shelf. The backpack joint parts and the sheer bulk of the HWS system also add real weight and heft to the 00 Sky frame, so its stock leg and hip joints take some strain holding dynamic poses once fully loaded out.
Who it's for
This is a purchase for people already invested in the Build Divers side story, not a first Gunpla and not something to grab on its own. If you have the 00 Sky and AGE II Magnum kits sitting half finished on a shelf because you know their final forms exist and want them, this closes that gap cheaply and without fuss. If you do not own either base kit, skip it entirely, there is nothing here for you, and even Build Divers fans who only care about screen-accurate posing rather than parts customizing might find the joint stress on 00 Sky's legs a bigger deal than the gold weapons are worth.
The build story
What the build is actually like, and the engineering worth knowing about.
The runners themselves go together fast and clean, this is closer to a weekend side project than a full kit build. Gate placement is unremarkable in a good way, nubs sit on non-visible edges of the weapon parts and cleanup is minimal. Nothing here is fiddly in the way small RG frame parts can be, the pieces are chunky, purpose-built armor and weapon shells rather than tiny structural components.
The engineering payoff is entirely in what it does to the base kits. The HWS backpack transforms 00 Sky's silhouette with a much heavier weapons loadout, and the SV Custom parts give AGE II Magnum its golden Phoenix Mode blade, which is the standout piece in the whole set. Articulation is not this kit's own to claim since it borrows the frames of two other kits, but it is worth noting the extra backpack weight does reduce how confidently 00 Sky holds deep poses. For anyone tracking part-count value, eleven runners of pure accessory parts at this price point is a fair trade for finishing two kits' story arcs at once.
Lore & trivia
- 01The set recreates the 'Higher Than Sky Phase' arc from Gundam Build Divers, where Riku Mikami's Gundam 00 Sky equips a heavy weapons system and AGE II Magnum shifts into SV Phoenix Mode.
- 02In the show, the combined power of AGE II Magnum SV and 00 Sky HWS is used to destroy the GBN server boss in the Build Divers finale arc.
- 03The SV Custom parts form a distinctive five-pronged golden blade built around the Wings of Light, one of the show's most visually distinct signature weapons.
- 04This is catalogued as HGBC #046 in Bandai's High Grade Build Custom line, a sub-line dedicated entirely to accessory and weapon expansion sets rather than standalone mobile suits.
