The verdict

I like the Eldora Brute for exactly what it refuses to be: another biped Gundam.

This is a quadruped enemy unit, and Bandai leaned into that with a wire launched spearhead and a lower body that swaps out for the Sea and Air Brute variants. It will not wow you with articulation range, but it earns its spot on a shelf as a genuinely different build. Judge it as a monster kit, not a mobile suit kit, and it holds up fine.

Best for: builders who want a villain centerpiece or diorama beast rather than another poseable humanoid

The full review

What it is

The Eldora Brute is the land combat member of the Eldora Army, the Death Army inspired enemy line from Build Divers Re:RISE, and it shows in the design. Four stubby legs, a torso that spins a full 360 degrees, twin beam cannons riding on its back, and a four pronged Tetradent spear whose head detaches and fires out on a wire. Building it feels less like assembling a Gundam and more like putting together a tabletop monster, and I mean that as a compliment. The lower body is designed to be swapped for the Sea Brute and Air Brute releases, so there is a genuine engineering idea driving the whole kit rather than just a reskin.

The catch

Do not expect Gundam level posing. The quadruped frame limits dynamic action shots compared to a biped HG, and the torso rotation and leg joints are the extent of the articulation story, so photographers looking for dramatic combat poses will hit a ceiling fast. It is a small, cheap kit (it launched at 2,200 yen) so detail is simplified in places, and being a niche enemy unit rather than a hero suit, color separation leans on a few sticker applications for eye and accent details rather than full multi color molding throughout.

Who it's for

Grab this if you collect Build Divers enemy units, want a monster or kaiju style piece to stand opposite your hero Gundams, or you are drawn to the wire firing spearhead gimmick and the lower body swap concept. Skip it if you are chasing max articulation or a traditional humanoid build, this will feel like a sidegrade at best. For anyone building a Build Divers Re:RISE display with the Earthree Gundam or other Divers, the Eldora Brute earns its place as the opposing threat, and that context is where this kit actually shines.

The build story

What the build is actually like, and the engineering worth knowing about.

This goes together fast even by HG standards, the leg assemblies repeat four times so you get into a rhythm quickly, and gate placement is typical HGBD, mostly on non visible inner surfaces of the leg segments and torso shell. Nub cleanup is light because the part count stays low for the price band.

The standout piece of engineering is the torso, which rotates a full 360 degrees on the leg base, letting you turn the beast to face any direction without repositioning the legs. The Tetradent spear is the real centerpiece, its head separates and can be posed as if launched on the wire, which is a rare gimmick to find handled this cleanly in an HG. The twin back beam cannons add some play value for imagined firing poses even without lighting or effect parts.

Lore & trivia

  • 01The Eldora Brute is a Death Army inspired enemy unit built for the Build Divers Re:RISE lineup, drawing visual DNA from the Death Army mobile suits of Mobile Fighter G Gundam.
  • 02Its Tetradent, a four pronged spear, houses a beam cannon at the tip and can be fired using an internal wire mechanism built into the kit.
  • 03The kit's lower body is designed for interchange with its siblings, the Eldora Sea Brute and Eldora Air Brute, so one HG frame supports three release variants.
  • 04It released in December 2019 at a 2,200 yen price point as part of the HGBD:R line tied to Gundam Build Divers Re:RISE.
