This is a genuinely fun HG once you look past the goofy premise.
It is a Gundam Breaker kit first and a display piece second, and on those terms it delivers real martial-arts posability at a fair 1/144 price. It will never out-detail an RG or MG, but I did not expect it to, and it is not really trying to.
Best for: Gundam Breaker fans and pose junkies who want a cheap, kick-happy HG to mess around with
What it is
The Blazing Gundam is a red recolor and remix of the God Gundam lineage, built as an in-game custom unit for Gundam Breaker Mobile and animated in the Battlogue ONA. It leans into speed over power, sacrificing some of God Gundam's bulk for a lighter, kick-focused frame, and the kit backs that up with a dedicated glowing effect part for its signature flying kick finisher. I went in expecting a novelty and came out liking how committed it is to its own gimmick. The head vulcans, beam tonfa backpack, and side-skirt beam sabers all read clean and give it a proper G Gundam martial-arts silhouette on the shelf.
The catch
The part count sits around 164 pieces with a chunk of those unused (leftover from the shared HG Breaker Battlogue runner set), so you are paying partly for compatibility parts you may never touch unless you own sibling kits. It uses foil stickers rather than molded color for a few accents, which is the usual HG tradeoff. The waist's 360 degree swivel gets slightly blocked by the skirt armor panels in some poses, and the kick effect piece, while a nice touch, is a single-use gimmick part that just sits in the box once you are done posing the finisher.
Who it's for
Buy this if you want an affordable, expressive HG with real martial-arts range, or if you are collecting the Breaker Battlogue line and want the joint-swap compatibility with other kits in it. It is also a fun entry point if the God Gundam aesthetic appeals to you but you want something cheaper and lighter to build first. Skip it if you want maximum detail density or inner-frame engineering for the money, an RG or MG in the God Gundam family will get you further on that front, and skip it if unused leftover runners bother you.
The build story
What the build is actually like, and the engineering worth knowing about.
Gate placement is standard modern HG, nubs land on visible edges in a few spots so a light hobby knife pass and a sanding stick clean it up fast. Fit is snug without being a fight, and the shared God Gundam-lineage frame parts (runner A) feel like they have had a few kits' worth of refinement behind them already.
The double-jointed knees and the tonfa-and-saber backpack loadout are where this kit earns its keep, you can get it into genuinely dynamic fighting stances instead of the stiffer default HG poses. Color separation on the red and white bodywork is solid for the price band, with the beam weapon parts molded in translucent plastic rather than left flat.
Lore & trivia
- 01The Blazing Gundam is a custom Gunpla built by the character Misa Satsukino, designed as a sibling unit to the God Gundam alongside the Rising Gundam and Shining Gundam from Mobile Fighter G Gundam.
- 02It first appeared in the mobile game Gundam Breaker Mobile before being animated in the Gundam Breaker Battlogue ONA.
- 03Its signature attack channels full thruster output into a single high-speed jumping kick, with the foot tips glowing emerald green on impact, which the HG kit replicates with a dedicated clear effect part.
- 04The kit is part of Bandai's HG Gundam Breaker Battlogue line, which standardizes joint parts across its kits so builders can mix heads, torsos, arms, and legs between entries the same way players customize suits in-game.
