OZX-GU02A Gundam Geminass 02
The deep-space twin that proves a repaint-with-new-tooling kit can still be worth building.

I like this kit more than its "reuses the Geminass 01 mold" reputation suggests.
The dark space blue is genuinely molded into the plastic rather than dumped on as stickers, the C-clip forearm and leg joints are a small engineering flex for an HG, and it poses better than a suit this obscure has any right to. It is not a showpiece next to a modern HG, but it is a satisfying, quick build with a real point of view.
Best for: Gundam Wing completionists and P-Bandai regulars who want a fast, well-articulated space-forces suit rather than another mainline Wing Gundam
What it is
This is the space-use sibling of Gundam Geminass 01, built on the same frame but finished in a deep navy blue meant for low-visibility deployment away from Earth. I went in expecting a simple recolor and came out impressed by how much of that color is actual plastic, not paint or stickers. The waist rotates a full 360 degrees, the C-clip elbows and knees bend further than I expected from an HG this size, and the accelerate rifle, twin backpack-mounted beam swords, and G-Unit shield give you real loadout variety for posing. It is a fast, low-drama build that rewards you with a suit that looks distinct on the shelf next to the more familiar Wing Zero and Deathscythe crowd.
The catch
The part separation is good but not total. Some panel detail and trim lines are molded as raised or recessed lines rather than separate colored parts, so if you want the full effect you are reaching for a gray or silver marker and maybe a panel-line wash, this is not a snap-together-and-done kit if you want it to pop. The bigger long-term issue is the C-clip joints at the elbows and knees, which several builders report loosening after repeated re-posing, a thin bead of CA glue on the clip faces fixes it, but it is an extra step nobody wants to do on a kit fresh out of the box. It is also a P-Bandai exclusive, so pricing and availability run higher and spottier than a shelf-stock HG.
Who it's for
Buy this if you already like the Gundam Wing G-Unit side story or you want a well-articulated, uniquely colored HG without hunting down a mainline protagonist suit. The 360-degree waist and deep elbow bend make it a genuinely fun kit to pose, not just a static shelf piece. Skip it if you want a suit you can recognize on sight without backstory, or if joint durability worries you more than a dab of glue is worth, this is a suit for people who already know why Geminass matters, not a gateway kit for someone new to Gunpla.
The build story
What the build is actually like, and the engineering worth knowing about.
The build itself moves fast, this shares its frame with Geminass 01 so the runners are efficient and the parts fit is clean with no sanding drama. The C-clip system on the forearms and lower legs is the standout detail, it lets you detach those sections at a joint instead of pulling apart a peg connection, which is a small but real quality-of-life upgrade for an HG at this price.
Articulation is the strongest case for this kit: full waist rotation, elbows that bend close to 90 degrees, and hip and knee range good enough to hold dynamic beam-sword poses without the legs looking locked. The accessory set carries its weight too, two backpack-mounted beam swords plus a handheld accelerate rifle and an arm-mounted G-Unit shield means you are not stuck with one static loadout, and the kit is built to accept the separately sold Assault Booster and High Mobility Unit expansion for even more configurations.
Lore & trivia
- 01Geminass 02 is piloted by Odel Bernett, the older and more experienced brother of Odin Bernett, who pilots the near-identical Geminass 01
- 02The suit's name comes from Gemini, the constellation, reflecting that Geminass 01 and 02 were developed in parallel as a matched pair
- 03Geminass 02 activates the PX System earlier than its sibling unit thanks to Odel's greater combat experience, before being damaged and captured and later remodeled by OZ Prize into the OZ-10VMSX Gundam Aesculapius
- 04The kit originates from New Mobile Report Gundam Wing Dual Story: G-Unit, a manga side story to the mainline Gundam Wing continuity, and was released as a Bandai Premium (P-Bandai) exclusive
