I like this kit for what it is, which is a joke, and a good one.
It is not a serious build, it will not challenge you, and it will not sit proudly next to your MG Unicorn. What it does is turn a Zeon Zaku's drab green into the cutest possible shape, and that alone earned a smile out of me while I clipped the runners. Judge it as a toy, not as engineering, and it lands fine.
Best for: Gunpla collectors chasing the full Petit'gguy set or Zeon fans who want a novelty green mascot on the shelf
What it is
This is one entry in Bandai's long-running Petit'gguy line, a chibi mascot kit that gets recolored and re-accessorized for every convention and anime tie-in imaginable. The Mass Production Ver. dresses the same basic body in Zaku-style olive green, a nod to the mass-produced grunt suits of the Zeon army, and swaps in ears and a face sculpt to match. I built mine in under fifteen minutes with a hobby knife and no cement, and I will admit the whole time I had a small dumb grin on my face. It is not a Gunpla kit in the traditional sense so much as a plastic figurine with Gunpla manufacturing behind it.
The catch
Be honest with yourself about what this is before you buy it. Engineering is minimal, articulation is close to nonexistent (a head and a couple of limb pivots at most), and the part count is tiny, so there is no real build satisfaction beyond snapping a small toy together. It was sold as a Chara Hobby 2015 / C3xHobby event exclusive at 500 yen, which means aftermarket prices from resellers can run well past what the kit is actually worth. One reviewer pegged fair value at around ten dollars max, and I agree, paying collector markup for this specific colorway only makes sense if you are chasing the full Petit'gguy set.
Who it's for
Buy this if you already collect Petit'gguys and want the Zeon-green entry to sit with the rest of the lineup, or if you want a five minute palate cleanser build between serious kits. Skip it if you are shopping for your first Gunpla and want to feel real building progress, or if you are chasing articulation, detail payoff, or value for money. This is a shelf mascot and a nostalgia nod to Zaku green, not a display centerpiece, and it should be priced and judged as exactly that.
The build story
What the build is actually like, and the engineering worth knowing about.
There is no meaningful assembly here, just a handful of snap-fit shells over a simple frame, so cleanup is limited to a few nub marks and the whole thing goes together without cement in well under fifteen minutes.
Color separation is handled entirely through molded plastic in the olive Zaku green rather than stickers, which is the one place the kit earns some credit, but articulation tops out at a head turn and maybe an arm pivot, and the included chair and puzzle-stand accessories are more about compatibility with other Petit'gguys than adding play value on their own.
