This box is the smartest way to finish out your Tekkadan shelf, not a single showpiece kit.
You get three Gundam Frame machines and the non-Gundam-Frame Landman Rodi for one Premium Bandai order, and the value math works out well once you already own the base HGs these are built around. I would not point a first time builder here. I would point any IBO fan who has been chasing the harder-to-find frames straight at it.
Best for: IBO completionists who already have the base Tekkadan HGs and want the frame variants and Landman Rodi in one order
What it is
What you actually get is four separate builds bundled together: Barbatos Lupus Rex with its new Anti-Ship Lance Mace, Gusion Rebake Full City with a newly molded long range flight backpack, Flauros in its Ryusei-Go form with the big Dainsleif warhead piece, and the Landman Rodi mobile worker in Tekkadan colors. Building through all four in one sitting is a genuinely satisfying way to spend an afternoon, because each one has its own personality even though they share the IBO frame language underneath. The Barbatos Lupus Rex eye stickers are red instead of green here, marking the Alaya-Vijnana limiter being off, which is a nice touch for anyone who watched the show.
The catch
This is a Premium Bandai exclusive, so it comes and goes in availability and the price sits well above what a single HG normally costs, even though per-kit it is a fair deal. It is also armor and weapon focused rather than complete standalone kits for three of the four suits, since Lupus Rex, Gusion Rebake, and Flauros are meant to sit over base frame kits you likely already built. Builders consistently flag the black frame parts as rough to clip, with visible stress marks unless you sand the nubs down, and the sticker sheets across the set are sticker-heavy with some awkward foil pieces on the tail blade and feet that reviewers say wear off with handling.
Who it's for
Buy this if you already have Barbatos, the base Gusion, and Flauros builds behind you and want the upgrade armor, weapons, and the exclusive Landman Rodi without hunting down four separate releases. Skip it if you are new to Iron-Blooded Orphans or new to Gunpla generally, since half the value here is completing kits you built before, and a first timer gets none of that payoff. Skip it too if you just want one great looking Gundam on your shelf, since Barbatos Lupus Rex or the standalone Gusion Rebake will serve that better and cheaper on their own.
The build story
What the build is actually like, and the engineering worth knowing about.
Runner cleanup on the black IBO frame parts takes more care than a typical HG. Reviewers across multiple builds call out that even a fresh blade leaves a rough edge on the black plastic, so budget time to sand nubs down rather than just clip and go. No glue is required anywhere in the set, which keeps the actual assembly straightforward once you get past cleanup.
The payoff is in the articulation and the accessory count. The IBO frame gives Lupus Rex excellent elbow bend and a deep knee for an HG, with big stable feet that hold dynamic poses without tipping. Gusion Rebake Full City's new backpack has its own joint gimmick for the long range flight pose, and Flauros' Dainsleif warhead is a scene-accurate centerpiece prop. For one box you are getting weapon and armor variety that would otherwise mean tracking down three separate upgrade releases.
Lore & trivia
- 01The Barbatos Lupus Rex eye stickers in this set are red rather than the standard green, representing the moment its Alaya-Vijnana limiter is switched off in the show.
- 02Landman Rodi has never been released as a standalone HG kit, this bundle is the only official way to build one.
- 03The set only ships Gusion Rebake Full City's booster unit and Flauros' Dainsleif bullet accessory rather than full standalone bodies for those two, since it assumes you already own the base kits.
