The Sigrún is a quiet standout in the HGIBO line, a lightweight little knight that poses like it means it.
I went in expecting a filler MSV release and came out impressed by how much fencing personality Bandai packed into a 1,600 yen kit. It is not flashy and it does not try to be, it just moves well and looks sharp doing it. The catch is a couple of familiar Valkyrja Frame fit quirks that keep it from being a top-tier recommendation.
Best for: HGIBO collectors and pose-first builders who want a lean, rapier-and-shield knight suit without spending MG money
What it is
This is a 1/144 High Grade built around the Valkyrja Frame, the same family that gave us Grimgerde, and it shows in the best way. The silhouette is lean and armored like a medieval knight rather than a bulky mobile suit, and once assembled it wants to fence. Double-jointed elbows and knees plus a 360 degree ball-jointed waist mean I could throw it into a real lunge with the Valkyrja Rapier and have the pose hold. The Valkyrja Round Shield with its four wire anchors is a nice touch, letting me rig up an entangle-and-strike pose that actually tells a small story on the shelf. For the money, this punches well above its price band.
The catch
Builders consistently flag the same two soft spots on this frame: the chest, especially the back plate, is fiddly to seat correctly and rewards going slow and test-fitting before you commit glue-free pressure. The hips and feet can also feel a touch loose out of the runners, though it is the easy kind of loose that firms up with normal handling rather than something that ruins posing. The accessory count is modest too, just the rapier, shield, a couple of hand swaps, and the four bendable wires, so if you want a loaded weapons rack this is not it. One sheet of stickers handles some of the color work rather than everything being molded.
Who it's for
Pick this one up if you like IBO's grounded, knight-and-mercenary aesthetic and want a suit that actually holds a fencing pose without wrestling the joints into place. It is also a smart budget pickup if you already have Grimgerde or another Valkyrja Frame kit and want a shelf that reads as a matched set of duelists. Skip it if you need a kit stacked with swappable weapons and gimmicks, or if loose hip joints are a dealbreaker for you rather than a five-minute fix. As an entry point into IBO's side-suits it is one of the better values going.
The build story
What the build is actually like, and the engineering worth knowing about.
Assembly itself is straightforward HGIBO snap-fit, nothing exotic in the runner layout, but the chest is the one spot where I slowed down. Seating the back plate cleanly takes a second attempt more often than not, and it is worth dry-fitting before you snap it home for good. Elsewhere the build is quick and low-stress, which fits the kit's budget price point.
The frame's real selling point is how it moves. The double-jointed knees and elbows combined with the ball-socket waist let it hold a genuine lunging fencing stance, something a lot of HG kits at this price fake with limited range. The individually posable thruster fins on the skirt armor add a little extra life to action poses. One sticker sheet covers detail colors that aren't molded in, which keeps cost down but means the finish isn't fully painted-look out of the box.
Lore & trivia

- 02Its name comes from Sigrún, one of the nine Valkyries in Wagner's opera cycle Der Ring des Nibelungen
- 03The Sigrún is a game-original mobile suit from the Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans G smartphone app rather than the TV series, with this HG kit releasing in 2022
- 04Its Valkyrja Rapier is forged from rare metals capable of piercing Nanolaminate armor, the same armor tech used by the show's Gundam-frame units
