This kit earns its price by doing one thing almost no other HG at this scale does well: a fully articulated tail that actually works as a whip weapon, not a static tack-on.
I went in expecting a re-skinned Ghirarga and came out with a kit whose silhouette is genuinely its own thing, all clear blue accents and long trailing mass instead of the original's blocky Zeon lines. It is not a technical showcase like the frame-heavy HGs of the last few years, but it is a fun, characterful build with more personality than its price tag suggests.
Best for: Builders who want a striking, whip-tailed silhouette kit and don't mind a slightly fiddly small-parts build to get there
What it is
The Geara Ghirarga is Do-ji's custom rework of the Ghirarga from Gundam AGE, reimagined for Gundam Build Divers with a tail roughly three times the length of the source suit and fully poseable, like a Gunpla take on Epyon's whip. Clear blue parts run through the shoulders, chest, and tail segments, changing the read of the suit from the original's grounded Zeon grunt-work into something sharper and more predatory. Building it, the tail assembly is genuinely the highlight, dozens of tiny linked segments that click together into something you can actually swing and coil around the body for display. It is the kind of kit that photographs better than its box art suggests once that tail is doing something interesting.
The catch
The included Ghirarga Gear Spear is on the flimsy side and does not hold a solid grip in the hand the way you want a signature weapon to. The tail, while the star of the show, takes real time and patience to build since it is made of many small linked parts, and the connecting wire inside can run a touch long or short depending on how carefully you seat each segment. Some of the darker and clear-blue plastic leaves visible nub marks after clipping if you are not careful with your nippers, so plan on cleanup passes on those parts specifically. This is a Skill Level 2 HG, so expect one sticker sheet for detail rather than deep molded color separation everywhere.
Who it's for
This is a good pickup for builders who like an unusual silhouette more than they like raw part count or engineering complexity, and especially for anyone who wants a poseable whip-type weapon without jumping to an MG. If you mainly care about faithfulness to the original AGE-series Ghirarga, look elsewhere, this is deliberately a different suit built for a different show. Skip it if you want a rock-solid melee weapon out of the box, since the spear needs a light touch in posing. For everyone else drawn to the design, it is a satisfying afternoon build that rewards patience on the tail.
The build story
What the build is actually like, and the engineering worth knowing about.
Assembly is straightforward Skill Level 2 territory for the body, snap-fit with one sticker sheet for markings, but the tail is where the build time actually goes. It is made of many small linked segments that need careful gate cleanup, especially on the clear-blue plastic, which shows nub marks more readily than the standard runners if you rush the nippers.
The standout engineering is the tail itself, a whip-style multi-segment piece that detaches and can be posed coiled, trailing, or swung, giving the kit a dynamic quality that a static HG silhouette usually can't match. The Ghirarga Gear Spear splits into two separate weapons or combines into one, adding some loadout variety even if the piece itself isn't the sturdiest in hand.
