I like this kit a lot more than its one included weapon suggests I should.
The Qubeley Damned takes the excellent MG Qubeley Ver.Ka frame everyone already trusts and reworks the forearms, ankles and abdomen into something sharper and more predatory looking, and the redesign genuinely improves the silhouette. It is a Premium Bandai exclusive built around vibes and a killer stance rather than loadout variety, and once I accepted that going in, it delivered exactly what it promised.
Best for: Qubeley fans and funnel-suit collectors who already want the base kit and are willing to pay P-Bandai prices for a sharper silhouette
What it is
This is the Nozh custom from Gundam Build Divers GBWC, a Premium Bandai reskin of the AMX-004 Qubeley that Bandai already nailed as an MG years earlier. The changes are surgical rather than sweeping: bigger clawed forearms, restyled heel-shaped ankles, a slimmer abdomen, and a meaner overall read. Building it feels like building a kit you already trust, since the bulk of the original Qubeley Ver.Ka runners carry over, and the new sculpted parts drop in cleanly. The finished pose, especially with the arms spread and the ten-funnel array fanned out behind it, is genuinely striking and better looking than the source kit in my opinion.
The catch
It ships with exactly one accessory pair, a set of saber blades, so if you want variety in poses beyond the funnel spread and melee stance you are out of luck. Color separation leans on foil stickers and water transfer decals rather than molded plastic for some of the trim, which is the usual Bandai tradeoff on P-Bandai runs. It is also a Premium Bandai exclusive, so pricing runs well above a retail MG and secondhand prices are inflated further since it never got a general release. A few reviewers also flagged that the core proportions still read as an older kit under the new panels, since the underlying engineering is a decade-plus design.
Who it's for
Buy this if you already love the Qubeley silhouette, want the meanest looking version of it on your shelf, and do not mind paying secondary market prices for a one-and-done accessory loadout. Skip it if you want a first Qubeley kit at a reasonable price (get the standard MG Ver.Ka instead) or if you need multiple weapons and pose options to stay interested in a kit long term. This is a display piece for people who already know they want this exact silhouette, not a general recommendation.
The build story
What the build is actually like, and the engineering worth knowing about.
Assembly feels familiar if you have built the standard MG Qubeley Ver.Ka before, since most of the original runners are retained and the new sculpted forearm, ankle and torso parts are the only real departure. Gate placement and part fit follow the same standard as the base kit, nothing unusually fiddly, and the new claw-tipped forearms clip in without drama.
The engineering payoff is almost entirely the silhouette. The wider funnel pod (holding all ten funnels) and the reworked limbs read as a real upgrade over the original mold, and the arm-spread display pose is the reason to own this kit. Articulation is inherited from the Qubeley frame, which handles wide poses fine but was never built around aggressive melee posing, so treat this as a poser more than a fighter.
Lore & trivia
- 01The AMX-004 Qubeley base design first appeared as Haman Karn's personal mobile suit in Mobile Suit Zeta Gundam and Mobile Suit Gundam ZZ, making the Damned variant a reskin of a Universal Century newtype icon rather than an original mecha.
- 02The Qubeley Damned is the custom mobile suit of Nozh (diver name of Nozomin) in the Gundam Build Divers GBWC side story, built with sharpened claw-like limbs to suit her preference for finishing enemies at close range.
- 03Despite being designed around a pilot's taste for close-quarters destruction, the kit was noted in-universe and by reviewers for still landing a genuinely elegant, girlish silhouette rather than a purely brutal one.
- 04The kit was sold exclusively through Premium Bandai, meaning it never received a general retail release and has stayed priced above a standard MG since its 2018 launch.
