This is the same excellent MG 00 Qan[T] frame from 2011 dressed up with an absurd five-piece GN Sword IV, and that's both the appeal and the problem.
The base kit's articulation and color separation are still some of the best Sunrise-era Anno Domini engineering Bandai ever put out. The Full Saber loadout looks incredible on the shelf and terrible in your hands the moment you try to pose it holding everything at once.
Best for: 00V lore fans and weapon-loadout collectors who want the full GN Sword IV arsenal and don't mind babying a top-heavy pose
What it is
At its core this is the 2011 MG 00 Qan[T], one of the better-regarded Anno Domini master grades, repackaged with the GN Sword IV Full Saber gear from the Battlefield Record side story. You get the same twin-drive frame with clear green GN condenser parts running through the limbs, the same excellent hip and shoulder engineering, and on top of it three GN Gunblades, a Full Saber sword, and a shield stuffed with GN bits. Building it is genuinely satisfying, the frame goes together with purpose and the molded color work means you're not reaching for a paint pen just to make it look finished.
The catch
The GN Sword IV in Full Saber configuration is heavy, and the kit was never built to carry that much weight one-handed. Once you clip the extra blades on, the sword drags the wrist and shoulder down, and the shield gets noticeably front-heavy once all six GN bits are mounted, enough that the torso ball joint tilts left under the load. The clear green condenser parts are hard but brittle plastic, so nub removal needs a light touch or you'll crack one. Standing it in any dynamic saber pose without a stand is asking for a slow lean over time.
Who it's for
Buy this if you specifically want the 00V Full Saber story gear and you're fine posing it mostly upright or resting the weapon rather than fighting the frame for a dramatic swing. It's a great pickup for anyone who already likes the base MG Qan[T] and wants the deluxe accessory version rather than a second kit. If your priority is a suit that holds an aggressive one-handed sword pose out of the box with no stand, look at the plain MG 00 Qan[T] or a lighter loadout kit instead, this one wants backup.
The build story
What the build is actually like, and the engineering worth knowing about.
The build itself is straightforward MG-standard runner work with no unusual gimmicks, the main thing to watch is the clear green GN condenser pieces scattered through the arms and legs. That plastic is harder and more brittle than the rest of the kit, so take your time at the gates or you risk a crack or stress mark right where it'll show most.
Where the kit earns its keep is the frame underneath. The waist rotates a full 360 degrees on a ball-and-socket joint, the thigh pegs swing and rotate independently, and the elbows bend past 90 degrees thanks to the circular joint design. Hand articulation runs 3+1+1 per palm, enough for real weapon grips. The GN Sword IV's five-piece breakdown, three Gunblades plus Full Saber and Rifle configurations, gives you more weapon variety than almost any other MG in the 00 line, it's just a lot to ask the wrists to hold at once.
Lore & trivia
- 01The GN Sword IV Full Saber was designed in-universe to synchronize with the 00 Qan[T]'s twin GN Drives the way the 0 Raiser supported the 00 Gundam, but since the Qan[T] could already achieve full synchronization on its own, the weapon was ruled unnecessary and never entered production.
- 02The Full Saber only appears in the Mobile Suit Gundam 00V: Battlefield Record side story, shown during a Veda supercomputer simulation rather than in actual combat continuity.
- 03The GN Sword IV separates into five configurations, including a Full Saber mode, GN Launcher mode, GN Sword IV Rifle and Saber modes, and a GN Katar mode, built from three individual GN Gunblades.
- 04This kit reuses the frame and most tooling from the original 2011 MG 00 Qan[T], with the Full Saber release letting builders swap the backpack back to rebuild the standard Qan[T] loadout.
