MGMobile Suit Gundam SEED Destiny

Gunner Wizard / Slash Wizard / Blaze Wizard Set

Three backpacks, one Zaku family, zero mobile suit included, and that is exactly the point.

The verdict

I like this set for what it honestly is, which is a weapons and equipment expansion, not a kit in the usual sense.

There is no mobile suit body here, just three distinct Wizard Pack loadouts (Gunner, Slash, Blaze) built around the ZGMF-1000 Zaku Warrior's modular backpack system, plus the Falx G7 beam ax and other armaments. If you already own a compatible MG frame, this is a genuinely fun way to triple your posing options for one kit's worth of money.

Best for: MG Zaku Warrior, Astray Out Frame D, or Eclipse Gundam owners who want three distinct weapon loadouts instead of buying three separate suits

The full review

What it is

This P-Bandai release packages the Wizard Pack concept from SEED Destiny into one box: Gunner Wizard for the long-range Orthros beam cannon, Slash Wizard for the Hydra Gatling beam gun and close-combat gear tied to the Slash Zaku Phantom, and Blaze Wizard for the twin guided-missile launchers and maneuver boosters. Clipping each backpack onto a compatible MG frame and immediately having a different silhouette and loadout is a satisfying, almost toy-like kind of fun that a lot of accessory sets do not deliver. It rewards owners who already have the frame it was designed around.

The catch

The obvious catch is right there in the name: there is no Zaku Warrior, no Astray Out Frame D, no Eclipse Gundam in the box. You are buying backpacks and guns, full stop, so this only makes sense as a second purchase, and P-Bandai exclusivity means paying import markup and shipping on top of the roughly 3,850 yen list price. Fit onto the intended frames is generally reported as solid, but since it depends entirely on which host kit you own, your mileage on peg tightness and cable routing will vary by combo.

Who it's for

Buy this if you already have or are planning an MG Zaku Warrior, Astray Out Frame D, or Eclipse Gundam and want to multiply what that one kit can do without buying three more full suits. Skip it if you are new to the line or do not own a compatible frame yet, since on its own this set builds into a pile of very nice backpacks with nothing to wear them. It is a collector's add-on, not a starting point.

The build story

What the build is actually like, and the engineering worth knowing about.

Assembly runs like any modern MG accessory kit: manageable gate placement, decent color separation on the beam cannon and gatling parts so you are not relying purely on stickers for the highlights, and the backpack mounting hardware clips onto the Wizard-system peg with the same style of connection Bandai has used across the Zaku Warrior expansion line.

The standout here is the sheer variety per dollar. Swapping from Gunner Wizard's beam cannon stance to Blaze Wizard's missile-launcher bulk to Slash Wizard's beam ax and gatling setup changes the whole read of the finished suit, and that kind of loadout flexibility is rare to get this cheaply in one box.

Lore & trivia

  • 01The Wizard Pack system in Gundam SEED Destiny was designed around the ZGMF-1000 Zaku Warrior, letting ZAFT reconfigure the same frame for long-range, missile-support, or close-combat roles.
  • 02Slash Wizard equipment is directly tied to the Slash ZAKU Phantom, the close-combat configuration flown as a commander-type unit in the series.
  • 03Bandai marketed this expansion-only set as compatible with later Astray-line MG kits like the Gundam Astray Out Frame D and Gundam Eclipse, well outside the Zaku Warrior it was originally built for.
  • 04The set released in April 2023 as a Premium Bandai exclusive at 3,850 yen, sold as a make-to-order item rather than through general retail.
