Mission Pack Hanger for F90 Gundam F90 Twin Set

Not a mobile suit kit at all, just the cleverest little rack the F90 collection has ever needed.

The verdict

I like this a lot more than I expected to for something that isn't even a Gundam.

It's a two-piece display hanger built to hold the F90's swappable Mission Packs, and once you own more than one or two packs you realize how badly you needed a way to show them off instead of burying them in a drawer. There's no plastic figure to pose here, just an engineering exercise in hardpoints and adjustable arms, but it nails that one job cleanly.

Best for: F90 A to Z Project collectors who already own multiple Mission Packs and want them displayed instead of stored

The full review

What it is

This is a Premium Bandai exclusive built around the F90 Mission Pack system, the modular loadouts (A through Z type packs) that let the Formula Project's Gundam F90 swap roles from recon to heavy assault. The twin set gives you two identical hangers, each built like a small action base with an articulated arm ending in a hardpoint connector sized for the packs. You clip a Mission Pack onto the arm, plant the hanger on a shelf or diorama base, and suddenly the pack reads like a display piece instead of a loose accessory in a bag. There's a genuine little thrill in seeing a G-type or W-type pack finally posed and lit properly on a shelf after months of it sitting in a parts tray.

The catch

The name is misleading if you don't already know the F90 line, this kit includes zero mobile suit plastic. No F90 body, no Mission Pack itself, just the hangers. You need to already own the MG F90 and at least one Mission Pack (sold separately, and mostly Premium Bandai exclusives that come and go) for this to make any sense as a purchase. It was also a limited-run P-Bandai item tied to a Japan gift campaign, so secondhand pricing runs above the original 1,980 yen and international buyers are stuck with proxy or reseller markups. Assembly is fast because there just isn't much here, which is exactly the point but also means very little to review as a build.

Who it's for

This is squarely for people already deep in the F90 A to Z Project, the ones who've picked up three or four Mission Packs and have nowhere satisfying to put them. If that's you, this solves a real display problem cheaply and looks sharp doing it. If you don't own an F90 or any Mission Packs yet, skip this entirely and start with the base MG F90 kit instead, this hanger will mean nothing to you without the collection behind it. It's an accessory purchase, not a first kit, not even a tenth kit for most builders.

The build story

What the build is actually like, and the engineering worth knowing about.

There's no real gate cleanup story here worth dwelling on, the part count is small and the plastic is simple stand and arm geometry rather than mobile suit frame parts. What construction there is goes together in minutes, snapping the base, arm segments, and hardpoint connector into place.

The engineering worth praising is in the adjustable width on the hook arms, which let the same hanger fit the range of Mission Pack shapes across the A to Z lineup rather than needing a dedicated stand per pack. The included stickers for labeling which pack is mounted are a small but thoughtful touch for anyone displaying several packs side by side.

Lore & trivia

  • 01The F90 Mission Pack system comes from Mobile Suit Gundam F90, Kunio Okawara's early 1990s design project that set up 26 mission-specific loadouts, A through Z, for a single Gundam frame before the concept was folded into the Gundam F91 prequel media.
  • 02Many of the original A to Z Mission Packs were never released as kits when F90 was shelved after F91's theatrical performance; Bandai's ongoing F90 A to Z Project has been filling in those gaps as Premium Bandai exclusives for years since.
  • 03This Twin Set hanger released in February 2023 through Premium Bandai at 1,980 yen and was also distributed at times through a Japan-only gift campaign tied to qualifying purchases.
