An armament upgrade for a kit you already own, and a genuinely clever one.

I like this a lot, but I want to be upfront about what it actually is first.
This is not a standalone mobile suit, it is a P-Bandai expansion set that turns your existing MG Gundam F90 into the Jupiter Battle Specification loadout. Judged as that, it delivers real engineering and a genuinely different silhouette for not a huge parts investment. Judged as a first kit or a solo build, it is the wrong purchase entirely.
Best for: F90 owners who already have the base MG kit and want the Jupiter Empire loadout without buying a second full suit
What it is
The F90 line is built around the idea of swappable Mission Packs, and this is Bandai following through on that promise years after the base kit's 2019 release. You need the MG Gundam F90 already built, this box gives you the Intercept Type conversion: leg thrust augmentation units, a flight shield reworked with Jupiter Empire blue paneling, new shoulder armor, and the signature Shot Lancer, a lance-shaped weapon with a built in beam rifle and a warhead payload. Snapping the new frame parts onto a suit I already knew well felt like getting a new mobile suit for a fraction of the usual build time.
The catch
The obvious catch is that this is not a self-contained kit. If you don't already own the base F90, this set does nothing for you on its own, and Bandai doesn't make that easy to miss since it was a Premium Bandai web exclusive with the usual no-guaranteed-reissue risk. The waist rotation on the base F90 frame is limited to roughly 45 degrees because of the skirt armor and frame design, a limitation this pack inherits rather than fixes. Pricing on the secondary market runs higher than a same size HG because of the exclusive status, so value here depends entirely on whether you already have the platform this plugs into.
Who it's for
This is for the completionist who already has the MG F90 on a shelf and wants the U.C. 0136 Jupiter Battle version without rebuying the whole suit, or for anyone who specifically loves the F90I-I's Operation Steel 7 backstory and wants that exact loadout. It is not for anyone shopping for a first Gundam kit, a standalone display piece, or anyone unwilling to hunt a P-Bandai exclusive on the aftermarket. If you don't already own the base kit, skip this listing and look at the base MG F90 first.
The build story
What the build is actually like, and the engineering worth knowing about.
Assembly is fast because you are only adding frame and armor pieces to a suit you have already clipped and built once. The new shoulder armor and leg thrust units snap onto the existing joints without any surgery to the base kit, and the flight shield's Jupiter blue paneling is molded in color rather than relying on stickers for the main color break.
The standout piece is the Shot Lancer, which has a removable lancet tip to pose the weapon in its injection state, plus a built in beam rifle grip and warhead detailing that reads well up close. Combined with the reworked shield and leg units, the pack changes the F90's proportions enough that it reads as a distinct suit on the shelf rather than a reskin, which is the whole point of the Mission Pack concept.
Lore & trivia
- 01The F90 line was designed from the start around interchangeable Mission Packs, letting one base frame become an interceptor, a marine unit, a heavy assault suit, and more depending on the pack attached
- 02The F90I-I Jupiter Battle Specification depicts F90 Unit 1 pulled out of storage and refitted for Minoru Suzuki's use during Operation Steel 7 against the Jupiter Empire's colony laser Shinvatsu in U.C. 0136
- 03The Type I Mission Pack's original Beam Lancer was replaced in this specification by a customized Shot Lancer carrying a built in beam rifle and multiple small nuclear warheads
- 04This kit was released in March 2021 as a Premium Bandai web exclusive, sold as an add-on set rather than a boxed standalone mobile suit
