A humble mass production grunt suit dressed up in night fighter blue, and it builds better than its rank suggests.

This is a kit that overdelivers for what it is, a League Militaire mass production suit given a specific paint job and a specific story, and I came away liking it more than I expected to.
It is not a flagship, it is not trying to be an MG, but the RE/100 line gives it real detail for a simple frame. If you want the definitive hero unit from V Gundam, this is not that kit. If you want a sharp, quick, characterful squad piece, it earns its spot on the shelf.
Best for: V Gundam fans and RE/100 collectors who want an easy, characterful army builder rather than a flagship centerpiece
What it is
The Gun-EZ is the mass production suit of Victory Gundam, the League Militaire's answer to Zanscare's numbers, and this Ground Type variant is a field modification with added nozzle fins and dust proofing for the African front. The Bluebird Team release reproduces the blue night fighting squad's paint scheme in molded plastic, which matters because it means I was not stuck hand painting a solid color scheme just to get the look right out of the bag. New molds cover the head, torso, and shoulders specific to this ground variant, so it does not feel like a reskin. For an RE/100, the surface detail and panel work are genuinely satisfying, and the beam shield effect part is a fun surprise in the loadout.
The catch
The elbow and knee joints on mine were noticeably loose out of the bag, and while a little work at the joint sleeves tightens things up, that is extra effort on a kit billed as a quick build. The suit itself also reads smaller than its 1/100 scale suggests next to other kits on a shelf, since the Gun-EZ was never a towering hero design to begin with. The marking sheet is stuffed with stickers for customizing unit numbers and panel details, which is nice for choice but means the box art finish depends on you applying a lot of small decals carefully. This is also a fairly simple frame with no inner structure to speak of, so do not expect MG-style engineering.
Who it's for
Buy this if you are building out a Victory Gundam shelf, want a second or third mass production suit to stand alongside a hero unit, or just like the specific blue Bluebird color story from the African front arc. The simple structure genuinely makes it easy to build two or three without burning out, which is the whole point of an army builder release. Skip it if you want a single showpiece kit or have never seen V Gundam and have no attachment to the Gun-EZ as a design, since the appeal here is largely tied to knowing the unit. For newcomers wanting a first RE/100, there are more iconic subjects in the line to start with.
The build story
What the build is actually like, and the engineering worth knowing about.
This is a straightforward RE/100 build, snap fit with no cement required, and the part count stays low enough that assembly moves fast. Gate placement is reasonable on the show surfaces, though as with most RE kits some trimming and a light sand keeps nub marks from showing on the rounded shoulder and shin armor. The joints held together fine once seated, but several builders and my own experience found the elbows and knees a touch loose before any pose holding got serious, and going back in to slightly widen or crimp the joint sleeves fixed it.
Where the kit earns its keep is articulation and loadout for the price. The head sits on a ball jointed neck, elbows and knees are double jointed for real bend, the waist spins a full 360 degrees, and the ankles tilt enough to hold a stable ground stance. The included beam saber, beam rifle, beam bazooka, and a beam shield with a molded energy effect part round out a loadout that punches above a basic mass production suit's usual weight, and the oversized marking sheet lets you push the customization further if you want to run multiple units with different squad numbers.
Lore & trivia
- 01The Gun-EZ is the League Militaire's mass production suit in Mobile Suit Victory Gundam, filling the same narrative role the GM once did for the RX-78-2 Gundam.
- 02This Ground Type variant carries no official model number in the story because it is a field modification, adding nozzle fins and dust proofing for combat away from Zanscare's usual theaters.
- 03The Bluebird Team was a League Militaire night fighting unit that used these blue painted Gun-EZ Ground Types to help halt BESPA's advance near Mount Kilimanjaro on the African front.
