I think this is one of the friendliest RE/100 kits Bandai has put out, and this Rollout Color version is the best-looking way to own it.
It borrows the beam saber, beam rifle, beam bazooka, and hologram-finish beam shield straight from the MG V Gundam family, then wraps them around a simple, honest 1/100 frame that never fights you during assembly. It will not blow you away with engineering tricks, but it is a genuinely pleasant, fast build with a killer accessory loadout for the price.
Best for: Builders who want a quick, satisfying 1/100 with MG-grade weapons and don't mind a straightforward inner structure
What it is
The Gun EZ is basically Bandai taking a clean, modern HG design and scaling it up to 1/100 with the equipment straight out of the MG V Gundam line, a beam rifle, a shoulder-stored beam saber, a rear-mounted beam bazooka, and a PET-material beam shield with a hologram foil finish that catches the light in a way molded plastic just cannot fake. This Rollout Color release swaps the standard scheme for the muted prototype livery the suit wore before its production paint, and it works, giving what is usually a plain white and blue mobile suit a grounded, test-bed character. Building it is quick and low-stress, which after a fussy MG feels like a nice breather.
The catch
This is one of the more basic RE/100 kits on the market, both structurally and in terms of build complexity, so if you came in expecting MG-level inner frame engineering you will be a little let down. Builders consistently flag looseness in the shoulder to forearm connection and in a few of the smaller joints out of the box, nothing a drop of joint glue or careful gate cleanup can't fix, but it is there. The Rollout Color scheme also means you are paying for a paint variant rather than a fundamentally different kit, so if you already own the standard release there is not much new to build here beyond the color.
Who it's for
This is a great pickup for anyone who wants a fast, satisfying build without wrestling a complicated inner frame, or for V Gundam fans who want to build a small squad of Gun EZ units without repeating the same three-hour MG session each time. It is also a smart buy for builders who love beam effect parts, since the hologram beam shield alone makes this worth a look on a shelf. Skip it if you specifically want RE/100 as a proving ground for advanced inner-frame engineering, or if you already have the standard colorway and don't care about the prototype look.
The build story
What the build is actually like, and the engineering worth knowing about.
The build moves fast because the part count and structure stay simple by RE/100 standards. Gate placement is manageable and cleanup is quick, and the kit does not demand much color correction out of the box since the molded plastic already carries the prototype scheme reasonably well. The main thing to watch for during assembly is that shoulder-to-forearm connection, a little extra care or a touch of glue there heads off the wobble other builders have reported.
Articulation is better than the simple frame suggests: a ball-and-socket neck, shoulders that swing forward with lifting shoulder armor to clear the way, double-jointed elbows and knees, a 360 degree rotating waist, and hip joints that swing and rotate independently all add up to real pose range. The accessory set is the standout though, that PET hologram beam shield throws off a genuine holographic shimmer no paint job replicates, and pairing an RE/100 price point with full MG-tier weapons is a value combination few other kits in the line match.
