The same brilliant old-world frame, dressed in Treize's dark blue and given the hands to finally strike the pose.

This is the RG Tallgeese EW mold recolored and reissued with a purpose, and honestly, that purpose pays off.
The dark blue and grey scheme suits the suit's serious, almost gothic silhouette better than the original white, and the extra clenched hand pair means you can finally nail Treize's signature stance out of the box. If you already own the EW version, this is a skippable rebuy, but on its own the Tallgeese II is one of the best-built RG suits in the whole lineage.
Best for: RG builders who want the Tallgeese silhouette in a moodier colorway and value pose-accurate hands over saving a few dollars
What it is
The Tallgeese II is a straight recolor of Bandai's RG#28 Tallgeese EW, retooled into the dark OZ blue that Treize Khushrenada's personal unit wore. I went in expecting a lazy palette swap and came out impressed, the head alone earned that. The chin, cheek vents, and even the small red tear-streak markings under the eyes are separate molded pieces instead of paint or stickers, which is the kind of part separation I don't expect from something this small. The extra set of clenched hands included specifically for the anime's signature pose is a thoughtful touch that the original EW release didn't have, and it changes how I display the finished kit.
The catch
This is still the 2018 Tallgeese frame underneath, so the tradeoffs are the same ones EW owners already know. Gate placement on the white-turned-blue armor panels is inconsistent, some pieces are nicely undergated while others left visible nub marks I had to sand and re-scribe panel lines around. Because this version uses a darker, glossier plastic than the original white release, the sticker decal film is more noticeable and shows as a faint sheen unless you flatten it with a topcoat. It's also a straight recolor with no new frame engineering, so if you already built the EW version there is genuinely nothing mechanically new here.
Who it's for
Buy this one if you like the darker OZ colorway, want the anime-accurate posing hands without hunting down an aftermarket set, or just don't already have a Tallgeese on the shelf. Skip it if you already built the RG Tallgeese EW and are only after new engineering, this is a paint job and an accessory sprue, not a new kit under the hood. For anyone building their first RG suit, the compact size and strong articulation make it a satisfying, if slightly fiddly, choice.
The build story
What the build is actually like, and the engineering worth knowing about.
Runner cleanup is where this kit demands patience. The white-to-blue armor plastic is glossy and pleasant to handle, but Bandai clearly under-gated some panels and not others, so I was checking every large flat piece for a stray nub before moving on. The head assembly is the highlight of the whole build, it's a genuine multi-part puzzle at this scale with the vents, chin, and facial markings all molded separately rather than painted on.
Where this kit earns its score is articulation and accessories. The hip and shoulder joints let it hold dynamic combat poses without drooping, and the backpack thrusters swing wide enough to actually pose flight sequences. It ships with the dober gun, twin beam sabers, a heat rod, and now the extra fisted hands for the character pose, so the accessory loadout for an RG price point is genuinely strong.
Lore & trivia
- 01The Tallgeese II was assembled from spare parts of the original Tallgeese and was intended for OZ leader Treize Khushrenada rather than Zechs Merquise, who piloted the original suit.
- 02The suit's dober gun mounted on the shoulder is a high-powered long-range cartridge weapon capable of downing a Leo in a single hit.
- 03Unlike the first Tallgeese, the II model added a retractable heat rod alongside its two beam sabers, giving it stronger close-combat options.
- 04This RG release recolors the 2018 RG#28 Tallgeese EW mold into the dark OZ blue scheme and adds a clenched-hand pair specifically for Treize's signature pose.
