GN-002 Gundam Dynames
A sniper's suit that finally moves like one, with a shoulder joint I keep bragging about.

This is one of the best MGs Bandai has put out for a support-type suit, and the reason is a shoulder and abdomen setup engineered specifically around one job: holding a rifle steady while the rest of the body twists into impossible angles.
I built it expecting a straightforward re-run of the Gundam 00 inner-frame formula and came away genuinely impressed by how much thought went into the sniping poses specifically. The GN Shields fold out of the way without eating your articulation, which is the detail that sold me on the whole kit.
Best for: MG builders who want a sniper archetype suit that can actually hit a proper sniping pose, not just stand there holding a rifle
What it is
The MG Dynames is Bandai's 1/100 take on Lockon Stratos's suit, and it leans hard into the character's whole deal, precision at range. The inner frame gives you a torso that opens up and rotates so the suit can bend backward into a proper prone sniping stance, something I have not seen executed this cleanly on other MGs from the same era. The double-jointed elbows and knees are not just for show either, they get used the moment you try to mount the GN Sniper Rifle in a two-handed grip. Snapping this one together felt less like assembling a generic humanoid frame and more like assembling a purpose-built weapon platform, which is exactly what the source suit is.
The catch
The feet are on the small side for the suit's mass, and once you start posing with the Sniper Rifle in a wide stance, stability gets a little more delicate than I would like, though the ankle joints themselves are strong enough to hold most poses without drooping. Bandai still leans on foil stickers for some of the color work rather than full molded separation, so if you want the cleanest finish you are peeling stickers or picking up aftermarket decals. The leg-mounted GN Beam Pistol holsters also have a reputation for popping loose during heavier posing sessions, which is a small annoyance on an otherwise tight kit.
Who it's for
Get this one if you are building through the Gundam 00 cast and want the Meister suits done properly, or if you just want an MG that rewards dynamic, weapon-focused posing rather than generic hero stands. It is a satisfying build for anyone past their first few MGs, since the torso mechanism benefits from a bit of patience during assembly. Skip it if you specifically want zero stickers or a suit built for melee-style dynamic action, since this frame's whole design language is built around stillness and precision rather than motion. For a support-type MG, though, this is close to the ceiling of what the format can do.
The build story
What the build is actually like, and the engineering worth knowing about.
Assembly is straightforward for an MG of this vintage, nothing about the runners or gate placement caused headaches, and the frame goes together fast enough that most of the build time goes into the torso subassembly, which is worth the extra care since it is the mechanism doing all the work later. Weapon handles use fixed pins rather than friction grips alone, so the rifle and pistols lock in and stay put instead of slipping during longer posing sessions.
The articulation is the story here, full arm and leg movement plus a flexible waist, neck, and double-jointed abdomen that lets the suit fold back for a genuine sniper's prone position. Interchangeable finger parts are keyed differently for left and right hands so you cannot mix them up mid-build. Between the GN Sniper Rifle, twin GN Beam Pistols, and the shield-and-Haro shoulder setup, the accessory loadout matches the character concept well and gives you real posing variety for a suit that could have easily just been a rifle-holding statue.
Lore & trivia
- 01The GN-002 Gundam Dynames is piloted by Lockon Stratos (real name Neil Dylandy), Celestial Being's designated long-range specialist in Mobile Suit Gundam 00.
- 02Dynames mounts two GN Shields on its shoulder armor, each with individually articulated panels controlled by the onboard AI unit Haro.
- 03The suit's GN Sniper Rifle is built to eliminate an enemy mobile suit in a single well-placed shot, reflecting Lockon's marksmanship over brute firepower.
- 04The MG kit released in March 2019 and drew particularly strong praise from reviewers for how its torso and shoulder engineering was built around sniper-specific poses rather than generic articulation.
