The verdict

I like this kit a lot more than I expected to for something that is, on paper, just a big gun in a bag.

It gives Conroy Haagensen's one-episode heroics a real accessory instead of leaving them as a footnote, and the parts selection to build either his mega bazooka or the Hyaku Shiki version is a genuinely thoughtful touch. It is not something to buy as a first kit or a centerpiece, but as an add-on for a Jegan or a Zeta-era Gundam it earns its shelf space.

Best for: Unicorn and 0079-era completionists who already own a Jegan or Hyaku Shiki and want the accurate mega bazooka to go with it

The full review

What it is

This is a P-Bandai exclusive weapon kit built around the Mega Bazooka Launcher that Conroy Haagensen's ECOAS Jegan hauls out for its one big scene in Gundam Unicorn episode 7. You get the launcher itself, a tripod mount, a flexible power cable, and water slide decals, no mobile suit included, and the gimmick that sold me on it is that you can build the parts two different ways, either as Conroy's Jegan-use bazooka or as the classic Hyaku Shiki configuration the weapon was originally designed around back in Zeta Gundam. That dual-build option makes it feel less like a cash grab and more like Bandai actually thought about who would buy this.

The catch

It is a P-Bandai release, so it was never on general retail shelves and secondary market pricing runs well above the original 1,620 yen tag once resellers get their hands on it. There is no mobile suit in the box, which is obvious from the listing but still worth repeating, this only makes sense as an add-on to a Jegan or Hyaku Shiki you already own or plan to buy separately. The tripod and cable assembly is small and fiddly to get standing steady on its own, and because it is a support weapon rather than a figure, there is no articulation or engineering story here, just clean parts and decals.

Who it's for

Buy this if you already have or want an ECOAS Jegan, a Hyaku Shiki, or you are chasing a complete Unicorn side-story display and Conroy's moment matters to you. Skip it if you are new to the hobby, want a self-contained model, or are not going to hunt down the mobile suit it is meant to sit next to, because on its own this is just a static prop with nothing to pose. It is a narrow-appeal kit by design, and it delivers exactly what it promises to the people who actually want it.

The build story

What the build is actually like, and the engineering worth knowing about.

The build itself is short and low-stress, mostly the launcher body, a tripod stand, and a length of flexible cable meant to represent the power line running to the Jegan's backpack. Gate placement is clean and cleanup is minor since there just are not that many parts, this is an afternoon project rather than a weekend one.

The standout here is the parts engineering that lets one runner set build two distinct mega bazooka configurations, Conroy's Jegan-use version with its sniper visor tie-in, or the classic Hyaku Shiki mega bazooka the weapon first appeared with. The decals do the heavy lifting on detail payoff since the molded plastic alone is fairly plain, so take the time to apply them properly rather than skipping that step.
